BlephEx™ – Treatment for Blepharitis
Our practice offers an onsite treatment for blepharitis. Blepharitis is an inflammatory eye disease of the eyelids caused by an overgrowth of normal bacteria living along the lid and the base of the eyelashes, that in many cases are the cause of itching eyes, a biofilm over the lens, redness and severe dry eyes. Eyelids are difficult to clean and this overgrowth of bacteria, biofilm, scurf and debris accumulates over the years, and the exotoxin-induced inflammation causes damage to the eyelid and tear glands.
Using the Blepharitis treatment, your optometrist can clean and exfoliate your eyelids and lashes, resulting in an immediate improvement in your symptoms and overall eye health. The treatment allows for complete removal of the exotoxin-laden biofilm along the lid margin and helps avoid long-term inflammatory damage to your tear glands.
